It can rehydrate skin and replace volume in areas of loss, such as the the lips, cheeks, jaw line and even scars.

At Avalon Skin, we use dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid, a natural gel-like substance that adds volume and fullness, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid also attracts and binds water, which helps to maintain the volume enhancing benefits of dermal filler injections for six to eighteen months, depending on the product used.

Frequently asked questions

Does it hurt?

Every ones pain threshold is different, however, we go to great lengths to limit discomfort with anaesthetic cream and/or a local anaesthetic injections. The filler we use also has a local anaesthetic in it, so every measure is taken for your comfort.

How long does it last?

Depending on the area you need to add volume determines the product we use. For example the type of filler you would use in the lip is different to the type of filler you would use in the cheeks. Products are selected to meet each client’s individual needs, usually the effect lasts anywhere from 9-18 months and in some cases even longer.

Will I bruise?

Bruising is not uncommon however we recommend that you take Arnica 3-5 days prior to treatment and continue for 3-5 days after your treatment. In addition, we advise you to cease taking fish oil and garlic supplements and, if possible blood thinning medication such as nurofen or aspirin. Plan your treatments at least 2 weeks before of a special event just to be sure.

What areas can be treated?

The cheeks to restore mid face volume loss, the nose to mouth lines – nasolabial folds, lines around the mouth and extending either side to the chin – marionette lines, fill hollowed temples, restore structure and definition to jaw line, lip enhancement and redefine the lip border. In addition other concerns can be discussed with your Doctor.

Any side effects?

All procedures have potential side effects and these will be discussed individually. Potential side effects related to the product are extremely rare. Other potential problems are typically related to injection of the skin. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. All skin injection procedures carry a small risk of infection.
